When ceramics are fired in the kiln, the temperature change has a dramatic effect on the glaze. In Chinese, this effect called “Yao Bian/窑变”. This cup design emphasizes the special effect. Look closely at the colors of this cup, they are not painted but glazed. At the bottom of the cup, the green “grass” look is actually part of the effect. In addition to the “Yao Bian” effect, this cup also has a very delicate paintwork.
 
The slightly larger size and thicker cup wall also make this cup an ideal “hand-warming” tea cup.
